While on a project observing for birds on a proposed wind farm near Mosselbay in the Southern Cape, we were visited by a pair of ostriches.
Harmless, they were entertainment for three hours as they pecked every shiny bit of chrome on our vehicle.
Once they had circled the car a few times their interest changed to objects inside the car. Through the open drivers window, they both pecked at the console instruments and my hands.
Except for a single peck on my arm while I was looking through my binoculars they were more of a nuisance than a threat.
